Hey all,
I have a litter of mice and although they're extremely cute, something's not quite right. They are currently 5 weeks old, but they're extremely small. They're roughly the same size as two week old mice, but they're fully furred, eyes opened, roaming freely around the cage and are fully weaned. I have another litter at the moment around 3 days or so older, and they're nearly 4 times the size of these guys. They don't appear to have grown at all in the last week or so. They are eating and drinking normally but just not getting any bigger!

What is up with these mice? Are they likely to ever grow to normal size? Anyone alse had the same problem?

Btw, the mother and father are both normal sized mice.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx,
Jen

Was it a very large little? Over 14? It is very possible that the mother's milk wasn't rich enough and thus the stunted growth. However, now that they are weaned and eating on their own, they should increase in size over the next couple weeks, catching up to the other mice. As long as they are healthy and active and eating/drinking fine, they should gain weight and size. You can add some dogfood (one with 14% or ore protein, no dyes or preservatives) or high quality lab blocks for mice.
