I need to know what was wrong with my mouse...

Mintz Jun 20, 2005 02:33 AM

My mouse just died, and i dont know why. He was born in late October and was bought from a petstore. Now the symtoms included, he ran funny, haunched down to the ground and kind of wattled, draged his balls and things like that. It caused me to get worried because none of the other mice ever acted like that, it whent on and i wanted to call a vet, but my father belived it was ok and even if i wanted to he said i couldnt. I need to find out if there was something serriosly wrong with him, he was a stud and im afrid that he might have passed something down to the litters. If anyone knows of what it could have been please let me know..,

Did you mouse walk in circles or with a tilt to his head? How old was the mouse when you bought him? Could have been an older breeder that was close to the end of it's lifespan. Head tilting could be ear infection or neurological disorder. Not sure what you mean by him walking hunched down. Unless you mean he was unable to lift his body from the ground, in which case, could be injury to limbs or poor nutrition.

What were his other symtoms? Was he eating fine, did he walk funny from the start, when you bought him, or only after you brought him home? Was he housed alone or with your other mice? Was there any fighting, if he was housed with other mice (couldbe bite injury if fighting). Anything else about his symtoms you haven't mentioned? Any sneezing, runny nose or wheezing?
