Hey guys. I just happened to stumble upon this forum so I figured ide post my problem and see if anyone here could help.

I guess ill start from the beginning. I found two wild baby deer mice back on August 6th. One of my cats had found them and almost killed them. Their eyes were just starting to open. I fed them catmilk and have kept them alive and healthy. I thought they were boys but recently discovered that they are both girls. I have named them Nicki and Corona. They are living with two demestic mice perfectly well. They are like best buddies. Its so cute to see.

Now for the problem. One of the them, Corona, the more fiesty one, has a history of escaping. She would get out all the time but I would somehow, by the grace of God, always find her again. It isnt easy though because she doesnt really trust me. Its hard for me to hold her and she gives me light bits sometimes. Nicki is so much better though. Well, after finally having her back for a while she must have escaped again. Or was killed by her cage mates. She dissapeared randomly one day and I havent seen her since. I have torn apart my closet twice now, which is the only really hidden place that she could be in, and I never found her eather time.

My question is...is their any hope that she could still possibly be alive if she really did escape? I want her back so bad. I miss her. I just wish I knew if she was ok or not. Any tips on how to maybe coax her out of any possible hiding spot if she is indeed still alive? Im really worried because I have 4 cats and theirs no food and water out for her. Im afraid she may have past away.

Thank you so much for any advice.

It is very possible she is still alive, especiallly if there is no evidence of her being eaten by her cage mates. Assuming she didn't find a way out of the house, I suggest buying a couple of those live mouse traps and set them in your closet, and other dark quiet places. Check the traps at least once a day.

what sort of cage do you have your mice in? If she escapes from it once, she will just use the same way to escape again, so it may be better to buy a more secure cage for your deer mice.

Thank you for your quick reply. Sorry it took me a little longer to respond back.

I hope to buy a have-a-heart trap asap. The plastic one cause im afraid the wire one would do no good and she would just slip back out. I just hope the plastic one works.

They are in our old 20 gallon fish aquarium. Its rather tall so I was confused as to how she could have gotten out. They had been in that cage for a while before she did escape. But now I think I know how she get out and will have to take care of the area.

Thanks again.
