how old may this mouse be?

RadioactiveDude Jan 10, 2006 10:42 PM

hi,

i bought this mouse on Monday for my snake, but it's too big for him to eat. So I'm keeping it as a pet. I did a research on the internet about "orphan" mice. So I tried to feed it formula, but it wouldn't take it. So this afternoon it ate a little, but that was it (i try feeding it every 2 hours). Now I keep it in a shoe box with litter and a soft toy (recommended on some site) to keep it warm. I don't know how old this mouse is, but it's a little bigger than 2 inches (w/o a tail) and its still blind. Is there something I can do for it to survive? And what will I have to do after it opens it's eyes? As well as the title question.

Thanks in advance!!!

From the size of the mouse and the fact his eyes have not yet opened, I would say he is a late fuzzy, around 2 weeks old. Mice eyes typically open around 2 and a half weeks of age. It is deffinitely far from being weaned. Mice wean at about 4-5 weeks of age.
