hi everyone. i have three pet mice, one just had a litter of babies. i have been looking to get a hairless mouse as a pet for a while now, but i dont know who breeds them or sells them. are hairless mice popular as pets?

i don't know of any breeders of the hairless mice, but i have seen them time to time in petstores. i don't think they are any different as pets than regular domesticated mice, as it is just a genetic trait, as is albinoism or satin coats. the only concern is they need to be kept a bit extra warm, since they dont' have the fur to keep them warm. so watch for drafts or temperature drops. having alot of bedding and a few friends, will deffinitely help them from getting cold. i also recommend putting them in direct sunlight either, they probably b urn easy too.
