Help! Escaped mouse!

zibeth Aug 05, 2006 11:59 PM

Does anyone have any suggestions for catching an escaped mouse? I live in an apartment building and I am afraid she will get into another apartment and be killed.
I did find her original hiding spot just a little too late, it seems. I think she moved on to the bedroom. I have left food bits out for her and the first night she took one, but last night, she didn't take any food. I'm really worried and haven't seen her once - and this is day 3!

Get a mouse-sized livetrap. Put food only in there. If you put food everywhere else she's got no reason to go in the trap. Good luck, I hope you find her.

The live traps are very good ideas but if you can't find one in time I would suggest setting her cage on the floor with the door open and putting some good tasting stuff in there(Like flavored store-bought yogurt with fruit, just don't add too much of it.) and blocking off escape routes out of your apartment(Doors, air ducts/vents if on the floor or 2 feet off of the ground or less)and if all else fails, or if you suspect that she has gotten out of your apartment, warn your neighbors and ask around to see if anyone has poisons and/or inhumane sticky traps or wooden traps. If so I would ask them nicely if they could please take them up temporarily until you find your mouse =] Good luck! Sincerely, Madison

Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas! I did catch her this morning. I managed to trap her behind the entertainment center, except for the two small holes where my speaker wires come through. I knew she was hungry, so I got her favorite treat and slowly coaxed her out until I could grab her. It took about 15 minutes, but now she is back home with her three sisters! I am soooooo relieved!

Thanks again for your wonderful ideas and qick responses!
