HELP please, ASAP! mouse sick? pregnant?

abbyful Aug 11, 2006 07:29 AM

I have 2 female mice. I've had them for less than 2 weeks. They were both fine yesterday, but today one of them is not acting right. She's kind of hunched up and I don't know if she's breathing hard or having pregnacy contractions or what. I thought she was choking or sick, but then it came to mind she may be pregnant (she does look a little fatter than my other one, I don't think she was that fat when I got her, but maybe it's because she's hunched up she looks bigger.) She's not moving around much (usually she runs away from me a bit, she's just sitting there when I put my hand in the cage). Can anyone help me please?

She's also making little sounds. Not squeaks, just a faint sound she's never made before. Like a half squeak half grunt type sound.

I don't know. I'd definitely get her to the vet as quickly as possible, though. I hope she's all right.

I took her to the petstore I got her at, since she's still under thier guarentee, they're going to take her to the vet for me at no cost. Hopefully she'll be okay.

Oh wow, that's lucky, then! I hope she's all right, whatever the matter is.

I got my mouse back today. She is looking fine again. I guess after they had her for a while, the problem corrected itself. They couldn't tell me exactly what happened, but said she had probably just gorged herself on seeds and got bloated and gassy. Anyways, I'm happy she's ok.
