PITBULL MICE............

APLAXAR Feb 03, 2007 06:01 PM

so as you may or may not know i breed mice for my snakes and for the store i work at, i breed all fancy mice because frankly i dont like the albino ones, but thats besides the point, i had a little 2 weeks ago, and i always let them grow up alittle bit to see what kind of pattern/blotching they will have and decide which are food and which are pets/future breeders. now i have never seen this pattern before on a mouse, they are white with distinct brindle patching on the body, it reminds me of a pitbulls marking so i called them pitbulls mice, more to make my girlfriend laugh, she thinks i am crazy for breeding mice. so i guess what i am getting to is.....have any of you seen this kind of pattern/blotching before?

Hey, thanks for the link it helps me understant the brindle better, the only thing though is that non of those brindles look like what i have at home, they are litteraly white mice with patches of brindle on their bodies, i really need to get some pictures up, i am going to put them into breeding groups, and see what comes up, as far as i can tell i think i have one male and two females, but they are just being weaned right now, so i will give them a week or so before determining anything

they are still brindle, they just also have the spotted gene. You wont usually find examples on mouse sites because they want to show the best possible example of the color, and if they are spotted it makes the brindle a bit harder to see. White spotting gene can be applied to any variety. They are definately neat, but prone to obesity much like the red ones that often pop up in the same litters.

I think maybe you're talking about the pattern on my deceased girl Chaminade. Is this what you mean?
