help, bleeding from mouth

roastchook Feb 07, 2007 01:37 AM

Yesterday, I saw blood in the cage, and found one poor lady (approx 1 year and large) bleeding from the mouth, panting, and opening her mouth far wider than usual, while looking like trying to eat. Today, shes up and running around like nothing happened. There wasn't anything sharp in the cage at all, could it possibly have been food caught in an airway or something? She's OK now, but I'm worried this problem will return, and it seemed really discomforting to her. Any ideas, people?

Hmm... I wonder if mice can bite their tongues or something?? If she's fine now I wouldn't worry too much, but if it comes back definitely get her to the vet and see if something's wrong.
