he keeps running around in circles in the cage. then when I picked him up to clean the cage he bit me; which he has never done. any ideas on whats going on? should I get rid of him?

Sounds like something is scaring him. Do you have a cat lurking around? Where is his cage located? How big is his cage and do you house him alone? How long have you had him? What substrate do you have? How many hides?
Need more information to figure out why he is so scared.
