I teach a class with a partner called Reptiles & Rodents for kids every June. Every day we bring in different animals rodents one day reptiles the next & a lot of times we bring in just exotic animals because they're neat to see.
Neither my partner nor I have snakes but my vet loans hers to me on snake day which btw is the most popular day so we save it for the end. She has a huge California king & I have to tell you.. that snake is one of the most beautiful snakes I have ever seen.
Do you have a photo of yours? Is it brownish & whitish colored?

If I could stand to feed a snake that'd be the one I'd want!
I've kept reptiles all my life but I don't go beyond insectivores because I just can't bring myself to do it. I've also kept rodents for most of my life and it doesn't mix well for me to have a carnivore.

She is a black and white gal I have had for four years. How big is your partner's? Because mine is bout two feet long and not as thick as I pictured them(about as thick as my skinny thumb). No pics of her..But I do have pics of my ball python and rainbow boa. I'd post them, but I have so many rainbow boa pics I'm afraid I'll accidentally pick one of the ones where he is eating a rat!

Actually, it sounds odd but the rat h's eating in the pics(which can be found in my gallery on kingsnake if you want to see) is what inspired me to get rats. I had to pick that one up by the tail and it let out a cute little squeak. At that moment, for the first time in my life, I felt bad for a rodent I was going to feed to my snake. So I thoroughly read up on rats, and now Clubber is in my life(with another rat hopefully coming soon).

No this CA king belongs to my vet. I don't even know if it's male or female but it's about 3 feet long & as big around as a garden hose.
The brown on it looks like milk chocolate.. sooo pretty!

I can't even feed frozen rodents to my critters. I tried once years ago the turtles did not even recognize it as food, I tried giving it to the frog.. tried wiggling it. Nothing.
The poor dead baby was so tiny & so cute.. I couldn't bring myself to try that again. I stick with bugs for live foods & the aquatics get fresh fish sometimes.
That's as far as I can go with feeding them other animals.

Turtles shouldn't even be fed mice/rats not because they aren't nutritious, but because it's just plain messy when they eat one.

I'm content with feeding frozen rodents to my snakes. I absolutely HATE having to kill the rats for my Rainbow Boa...at least he eats them and it is one step closer to him taking frozen.

You think feeding rodents to snakes is bad...there were quail chicks and baby chickens and frozen pigs at the expo where I got Clubber!

Hence the reason why I admire snakes from afar LOL!!
