New geyri thinner than ones I got last year- how were yours when you got them?

Last year I got a trio from Doug Dix. This year I got six geyri from another importer. I knew they hadn't been settled and fed for a while the way Doug does but he was out and these were a price I couldn't resist, the guy said they'd been treated for parasites and I saw a picture of the whole group that looked good for the most part. I'd been told two of the females might be gravid but to me they are all thin. They don't look unhealthy but they are pretty bony. I'm also not sure that they are eating yet but I just got them three days ago. What have your experiences been with recent imports? Thanks. -Lucy

My first saharan,Rico i bought from doug dix, when he came he weighed appox. 75-80 grams. So he was pretty healthy eating etc. then this summer i saw a price that was GREAt for yellow females so i decided i would buy one. When i bought her they told me she had been treated is eating and so forth. when she came she was i 31 grams SKINNY and didn't do much, she wouldnt even hide! once i put in food however she ate alot, and the next day there was some poop in her tank. the poop was runny and mushy. immediatly i took her to the vet she had a bacterial infection and i had to give her a VERY small amount of flagyl 2 times a day. this is a bit of a task with uros. now she is extremly healthy, eatslike a pig active loves rico and about 100 grams, big improvement in just 2 1/2 monthes! anyways i would say make sure that they do not have anything funny about them like not hiding, very lethargic etc. and i would take in a stool sample from everyone of them. they will be fine in the end but they probably have an infection or soemthing that cannot just be treated with panacur. good luck and they will be ok!
ps i paid more in the one visit vet bill than i did for the uro including shipping!!

Rico looks great. Mine aren't that lethargic and I'm checking their poop, which doesn't look runny, but I'm not sure that they've all pooped, as I got six! That's the problem with a group, you don't know who did what! So I'm keeping an eye on them all. The males are coming out and sunning more than the females. Two females were supposedly gravid but if they are, they're sure hiding those eggs in there with some skinny tummies. I don't think they're sick but one looks pretty old and has rough skin. I don't know as I've not had an old uro before, but that's just a guess. I am going to give them another week to adjust to just being in a new environment and see how they're eating and pooping and then get a fecal check done. Probably if one has something they all do as the importer had a large group in one huge cage. -Lucy
