OT, cat is having kittens!

tiffanyszoo Mar 06, 2007 12:27 PM

My hubby and I took in a rescue cat yesterday afternoon. The owners were going to drop her off on the side of the road but we convinced them to give her over to us. We knew she was pregnant BUT we didn't expect her to go into labor so soon.

So far she has had two kittens. One is doing great and looks to be very healthy and is nursing already. The other one was a stillborn and didn't look to be formed properly. She is having contractions again now. From the looks of her I expect her to have one or two more. We will be taking the momma cat and the babies to the vet in a couple days to make sure they are all healthy.

We are going to be keeping the momma cat (Tinkerbell) but we are going to be looking for homes for the kittens once they are weaned.

Good for you for taking in this mother cat! The former owners sound like real idiots. I'm sorry about the stillborn baby, that is really hard on the mom. When I was younger my parents always let our cats have a litter... not the brightest people out there as far as pet care... our beautiful girl Angel had one stillborn and had to have a c-section for the other three, and she took it really hard. Our neighbors' cat had just had a litter with only one survivor, who she wouldn't nurse. So they brought the baby over to Angel and she took the kitten in like it was her own. I think maybe she thought it was her baby since one was "missing," the stillborn one. I hope the rest of the babies are all okay and that you find great homes for them all.

Good luck finding them homes.
I'm glad you took her in, what a nightmare it would've been for her to have her babies dumped somewhere by the jerks who were trying to get rid of her.

::at on the back::: for you, for taking her in & helping her.

btw take pictures!
