I don't have him ...... YET

QuietPoet Mar 14, 2007 09:45 PM

Well I went to go get "him" tonight, and "he" ended up being a "she"..... and didn't look too great today... so she is still there. I don't want to get Henry sick.

Well darn it!
I don't blame you for not wanting to get Henry sick, I wouldn't have taken her either.
A couple of days ago I went to my vet's for a visit because one of our tortoise eggs hatched. I took a lot of pictures.
While I was there I saw a rat who has a horrible ear infection, this poor thing looked the way my Sofia Lorat looked when I adopted her from Pet's Mart.
Gee what a surprise, turns out that sick rat I saw belongs to the same pet store.
I thought right then OMG I am SO glad that I did NOT buy rats from them again. :-x

Hey I didn't know you had tortoise eggs!??

>>Hey I didn't know you had tortoise eggs!??

We didn't mean to. Last Aug. we boarded the tortoise while we were out of town... long story.
Anyway while she was boarding they mistakenly thought that breeding season is over so for some fresh air she was put in a pen with an 85lb male. Uhhh breeding season is ANY time a male sees a female, but they've learned that the hard way!
Well.. we've had 5 clutches of eggs since then with a total of about 85 eggs.
Clutch #1 collapsed the hatchling the vet is keeping came from clutch #2. the rest of them, I dug up & set outside the fence for wild animals to eat. We will not be able to find enough homes if that many eggs hatched. It's not looking much like more eggs will hatch but there's still a chance.
We still do not know if she's done with laying.. I sure hope so.
Here's the baby though.. isn't it CUTE?!?
