Here I Am Again!

Hi everyone! I've missed all of you from the old rats as pets board I used to post on with a lot of you. You would have known me there as emiller182, AKA: Eileen. I've been here a couple of times, but have never taken the time to register and all that, but today I did. It's nice to see, hear, uhhh READ familar voices.

Yes, I still have ratties! It's going on 5 years now. Of course all my sweet babies that were around when I was posting on the other board a few years ago have now gone over the rainbow bridge. I lost 5 within 3 months in 2005; that's when I stopped posting anywhere - it was just too much to even talk about..

Now I have only sweet little boy ratties having come to really connect with them the best, the little boogers. One of my sweetest, Harley, is dying of a bad cancer and his time draws near -- maybe within a few days or so. He's a blue self, a little guy who gave kisses all the time until the tumors messed with his ability to do so. His cagemate, Merlin is a blue hooded, another very gentle and sweet rattie who is pretty depressed right now. I am not looking forward to helping him thru all this cuz somebody is going to need to help ME! I also have 'Nilla who was saved from a snake cage when he did not become a meal within 2 days. I adopted him from the original adoptee family. (He's a black hooded - never seen a black rat before.) He has always been a freaked out dude, very moody & territorial, can't live with other ratties, but I'd be pretty freaked out too if I'd lived with a snake for 2 days. Plus, I LOVE him; he's got lots of redeeming qualities.

I loved reading your posts and feel right at home on this board -- just like the old days. I'll post again soon and look for some pics. Take care all....

Welcome back Eileen!
I've been through something similar. I lost a big group of rats to a disease that could have been cured for more of them if the laboratory doing tests on them hadn't lost a sample, screwed up, & taken so long.
By the time we found out what bacterial infection was killing them & got them started on the right medication which turned out to be a penicillin.. we wouldn't have lost so many.
It was hard & I went 8 months without rat but you know it's just harder to live without them so I had to get more!

When your poor furkids are gone (cancer is horrible I know, been there done that too with them)
You just have to jump back in because there are so many more rats out there that need a good home & you can give them one so ..you just have to get more.

Can't wait to see your pictures!
