amazing self control

captjacksmom Mar 15, 2007 07:16 PM

I went into where I used to work to drop Ruby off for the pet memorial people to pick her up and cremate her. Somehow, I wandered over to the small animals and saw that they had started ordering rats again. They didn't for a long time because they were always sick.

They had 3. One was just amazing. She was a rex odd-eyed lilac blazed berk- and she was nice! It took all the self control I had not to buy all 3 of them. I have a great cage, and they'd have each other, but I know I wouldn't give them enough out of the cage time. It was easy with Ruby because she was only 1 rat. I could stick her on my shoulder and go about my day, kwim?

I hope someone takes all three of them. It would be a shame not to.

OMG... you are stronger than I! I think I would have forgotten my I-don't-buy-rats-from-petstores-anymore policy and got her anyway. haha.

Yeah, I don't see how Rachel did it.
She had to be really hard to walk away from.
Talk about will power!!!

I've been thinking about the lilac girl since I left her. I'm sure she's gone by now, with it being the weekend. And I don't need to get rats right now. (I just have to keep telling myself that until I believe it.)

You should have seen the baby when I showed him the rats. They sniffed him and tickled his face with their noses. He was giggling and trying to grab them.

Yep I understand! You tell yourself you don't want or need them but then sit & think about them.
I didn't want or need this baby I'm supposed to adopt but I've been worrying about her all weekend.
We must have our brains wired differently from non rat people.
That's the only explanation I can think of.

Too bad you didn't take pics of the baby trying to grab the rats.

You and I are in the same boat. Let me tell you about the three boys I met on Sunday. Boy #1 was a silvered black berkshire dumbo. Boy #2 was a hairless dumbo. Boy #3 was a blue rex dumbo. It was like having my heart ripped out of my chest when I left them at the stores. I want a dumbo soooooooooo bad!!!! And there were three of them!!! The store that had the black boy also had 2 beige hooded dumbo girls and one hairless dwarf girl. I'm not allowed to have any girl rats though so I moved on to the boy tank, and I just about went bananas wanting that one. Then the next store we were in had those other two. It was terrible!!! I have room for them and everything, my husband is just in this little "we don't need anymore animals" rut right now. He's such a dork. Sigh. Anyway, I feel your pain.
