Oh Maaaaannn!!!

PHRatz Mar 16, 2007 03:33 PM

I went to get rescue rat today. Vet checked her over real good yesterday & said she's ready for a home. One of her assistants brought her to me but before I left I got her out of the carrier to get a good look at her. I am so glad I did that because apparently this morning she injured her eye very badly so I called into the back & asked if anyone had taken a look at this eye today.
Vet gets done with a dog & client, waves me is & says OH MAAN!!
So I don't have her yet, the eye is going to have to be surgically removed & the vet said she may be ready by tomorrow but it may be Monday.
She's a little baby, she's no older than the babies I have if even as old as they are.. so I really hope this surgery isn't too much for her.
Keep your fingers crossed for her.. if all goes ok she'll be in her new home soon.

I haven't heard a word about this baby girl.
That means either the vet hasn't yet done the surgery or she did it after hours on Saturday. Either way I won't be picking her up until tomorrow.. but I hope not hearing anything doesn't mean something bad happened.
I hope she's going to make it through that surgery & get to come to her new home tomorrow for sure.
I don't even know this baby really but I want her home now!

What were they keeping her in that she could have injured her eye so badly?

A regular little rat cage, I saw it.. it's just your run of the mill small animal cage from any pet store. They think she scratched the eye with her own nails.
Since she's off balance from the head tilt, it makes sense to me that she could have tried to scratch an itch then missed, hitting her own eye.
That's what it looked like to me too so....

Aww, poor baby. I hope the surgery goes well and she's home with you soon!
