Bad news and Good news

coluberking25 Mar 21, 2007 10:23 PM

I'll start with the bad news.

I had spring break and wasnt allowed to bring the rat home...so I gave them to a trusting friend. She did the best she could...but Akira(the basketball rat) died....she was very young and I think the lice did it again...

Now the good news:

Isis(the abino scared feeder) is still alive and showing no ill effects despite the lice on her. I DID talk to a vet and he told me to use puppy or kitten shampoo like you guys recommended, I got the shampoo, and will be bathing her(and cleaning the cage ) tonight...when I know the RA's won't see me carrying rat supplies in the dorm lol.

I tink she is caming down slightly. She tolerates handling but isn't very social. She has been bruxing just now... but still hasn't really groomed me or anything that shows strong affection. She's trying to burrow under my sweat pants and is poking her head out and checking things out. She also seems to enjoy a nice scratch behind the ears, as she goes into somewhat of a trance when I do sometimes. For your anjoyment...it isn't a rat...but Rocky, my Colombian Rainbow Boa.

It sounds like maybe you shouldn't have rats. Why couldn't you take it home? Why do they STILL have lice? It's not that hard to get rid of them.

You probably won't appreciate this but it has to be said.

They still have lice because my friend who said she'd take care of them absolutely refused to believe they had lice.

By the way I'm treating the lice, they're dying off, and my rat is healthier...so don't insult me ok?

...didn't mean to act so rude. To be completely honest I know what I'm doing now...everything is getting better. It just seems I've had some bad luck and fortunately it's turning to good luck now.

I hope the last remaining rat is doing ok. My point wasn't really about the lice, but more the fact that you are keeping the rat in a dorm where it isn't allowed, and you were for some reason not allowed to bring the rat home. Why not? Are your parents that heartless?

Beautiful! I love the way the light reflects off the scales on his (I'm assuming it's a he since he's named Rocky) head. What a lucky shot to catch his tongue out.

One...I have no idea of "his" gender actually. I'm gonna have to get him probed to figure it out.

Two...that tongue shot was very easy to get actually. He was flicking his tongue very slowly so I just had to point and shoot.

Man it's hard typing. Isis was resting next to my leg and I was stroking and when I stopped to type she was looking around as if she was saying "Hey, why'd you stop!?!"
