off topic but I'm so mad

guenevier Mar 22, 2007 03:46 PM

Today I took in a pair of guinea pigs that just made me furious. All the nails on all the feet were overgrown back to their toes, the female has a bald spot on her back, and the male has poop caked solid on his butt. How can anyone treat their pets that way?

So far I did one bath and clipped toenails - the little guy will have to soak in the tub again for awhile this evening though. Neither animal has any bugs, so the bald spot is maybe nurtitional? I'm not sure. Just furious though - both are very sweet animals. I'm told they are 4 years old. Poor things.

That's so sad.

A girl I used to work with gave away her guinea pigs and a few months later someone totally different brought one of them in (vet clinic) for an exam. I recognized the gp, but it looked HORRIBLE. The gal said she got it from someone who was totally neglecting it- it had a buddy, but the other one starved to death! The original owner, my co-worker was off that day. I never told her what happened, but our boss did months later. She felt awful.

What did you name them?

Hi;

Well this morning the little guy's butt is looking even more raw than last night, so I whipped out the neosporin and coated his shaved area.

No names yet. The male is a cream and white shorthair with a rosette on his forehead. The female is really quite pretty, a nice black and white abysinnian. She supposedly had 2 litters in the past, but no babies for over 2 years now, and she told the pet store lady they are 4 years old. They certainly don't seem like senior pigs, so I have to wonder what the heck. They both pounced on carrots last night like they were toys at Christmas.

On yet another topic, I'm lonely. Miss my giant poodle. I'm going to try and find a new puppy - NOT a poodle. I like big dogs and am in Minnesota, so if anyone out there knows anyone with good puppies, keep me in mind, ok?

-Oh great. Lucy the rat is running all over the keyboard jumping up and down,,,,,,,,,,time to stop for now.............

Grrrr I hate some people!!
The ones who let their pets get into this kind of shape.
Yes the bald spot can be a nutritional problem, but that should clear up since you have them.
I'd love to see pics of them & bless you for taking them in!

Poor babies. I don't know what gets into people to make them so stupid!! I'm glad you're getting them all fixed up now, I'm sure they'll feel wonderful with nice clipped nails and clean fur and good food.
