Update on Isis

coluberking25 Mar 22, 2007 08:35 PM

Isis...the albino rat of the two I adopted which has survived..was bathed yesterday with puppy shampoo(that kills pests) and warm water. I saw it kill a bunch of lice when I applied it. I was sooo happy. I was just afraid to apply shampoo to her cheeks(where I have seen lice also) out of fear of the shampoo getting in her mouth because she was wriggling so much. Well basically the shampoo killed the lice...and she looks cleaner too!

I have yet to take her out today to play/calm her down. She still seems jumpy and it is difficult to pick her up. The only thing I know about her so far(personality wise) is that she really enjoys a nice scratch behind the ears. It's funny..she'll be running around looking for places to go, but when I scratch her behind the ears she goes into this trance and stops moving, even sometimes to the point of where she almost falls asleep.

All this talk is making me want to take her out now! I think she's eating, so I'll wait for her to come out of her hide box(where she stashes ALL the food from the food dish lol). I'll keep you guys up to date on her!

She sounds very sweet!

Don't you just hate lice? I think that of all the rats I've had over the years, only 5 or 6 of them came to me bug-free.

Well here are my numbers.

All three rats I've ever owned have had lice.

Two are now dead thanks to them.

That's bad. Were they really young (really small)?

You're doing the right thing using the puppy shampoo.
