I went out and got 2 new babies today. They're 3 wks old.

Yin - a black english/irish
yang - an offwhite colored self

Mike named them LOL

I will post pics after they calm down.

Yes they were weaned. They're doing great. Popcorning around their cage, eating their lab blocks and their fruits/veggies, and giving kisses

My babies were just weaned when I got them too.. but I don't mind. I prefer to get them that young when I can.
Rats naturally do start weaning the babies at 3 weeks & in a crowd, mama will wean them really fast.
However the boy who waited on me did give me standard pet store advice.. he said I should feed them some milk soaked bread. I said no way.. cow's milk can cause diarrhea.. I'll use my soy baby formula thank you very much! LOL
I did offer my babies solid food- lab blocks along with a water bottle & a bottle full of formula. They did drink the formula but they ate the lab blocks too. After a week or so they were wiping out the lab blocks every night.. I took them completely off formula by the end of 2 weeks. They didn't need it anymore.
If they were in the wild, they'd be totally weaned at the end of 4 weeks anyway.
Arrgghh here comes a darn storm.
