I'm gonna spill the beans now on where I got my babies.
I don't know if any of you have ever noticed but a lot of times on the front page of this forum you'll see an advertisement for Walter's World of Pets in a big blue box.
Well, Walter's World is where I got my babies & I am just in shock because it's been almost 2 months since I got them and they are NOT sick!
:::knock on wood:::

It takes 2 hours to get there but it was worth it!
I wanted to tell where I got them because.....
When I was at the vet's the other day with the dog she told me about about a family who did every thing they could for their child's pet rat but it had a terrible liver disease that could not be cured & the rat died.

Because she's already seen my babies she told those parents that they needed to go to Walter's World for a new pet rat. The very next day they did that & then they brought it to the vet for a check up after they got it. The vet said this new young rat is as healthy as a horse!
btw she did say that yes they do have another rat so the new baby isn't alone. (still I don't see how they managed to go all the way over there then buy ONLY one rat LOL)
If I had known how much healthier my babies were going to be I would've bought 6 instead of 4.. next time I'm there....

OMG - you live that close to Walters? Awesome! They have the neatest animals advertised all the time! I was going to buy some stuff from him but he wanted a zillion dollars for shipping, and this was before 911 and the rule changes.

Yeah they do advertise really neat stuff. I guess they do a lot of shipping.. I'm glad I don't have to do that.
I'll tell ya 5 years or so ago we went there & I wasn't all that impressed but since then they've moved from a strip mall to a free standing building of their own. The main reason we went there this time was because I needed a 40 gallon breeder tank for my mud turtle & nobody but nobody can find that size tank for me here, but Walter's carries them as standard stock. It's a tank that has a very wide floor, it's the wide floor I needed, most aquariums are only 12 inches wide, this one is 18 inches wide. People around here look in their order books then look at me like I'm crazy.. they can't get a tank that size.

5 years ago Walter's didn't have pet rats so I wasn't really expecting to find any at all this time. I even took a crummy plastic critter keeper for just in case but didn't really expect to find any rats.

We got there, the place did not stink at all.. the pet stores here do stink. Stink is important to me- sure a pet store has some odor they can't avoid some odor but there's a diff between some odor, a stink, & rancid STANK that blows you away when you open the door! LOL
I was impressed that I didn't smell that gawd awful smell of filth.
Then I didn't see rats that I wanted so the kid that waited on me went in the back & got these girls I was like OMG YES put them in my container NOW! LOL
Really if I'd known how healthy they really were I would've said get me 2 more!
Now all my friends are going there or telling people to go there.
I wish it was closer but 2 hours away isn't too bad.. it's do-able when we need to go.
