I got lost from the computer because my dad got extremely ill & has been in the hospital for 2 weeks.. he's finally getting better, my sister has flown back home.. things are settling down again.
I had 910 emails when I signed on this morning.. I haven't turned my computer on since last week sometime, I can't even remember what day it was!

Anyway.. I didn't mention it a few weeks ago because I was afraid that like the little rat girl with the head tilt, nothing would happen.
Now it looks as if it may happen.
My vet may have a few rats for me to take- they're teensy babies!
What happened is one of her clients went on vacation, left her rats & parrots in the care of her grandson who messed it up big time. Some how the rats got out & killed one of the parrots so the woman dumped her rats on the vet. A male & female with a litter of babies too tiny to leave mama rat yet.
Vet sent them with a foster family who wants male rats only so some females may be coming my way soon!
I hope I am not jinxing it by talking about it! LOL
I'll let you know if I get more rats in the near future.

OMG! I hope your dad is doing well. It's scary when older people get that sick. My grandmother (81) just had surgery 2 weeks ago for a bowel obstruction. She thought she had the stomach flu and didn't call me to take her to the doctor until the pain was unbearable. I felt so guilty that she suffered for almost 2 days before calling me. She's recovering really well- not well for her age, just well in general. She's pretty amazing.

910 emails?!?! I don't even get that many in probably 6 months (thankfully).

That's too bad about the parrot, but rats are rats, kwim? I don't know if you remember, but before I knew better, I thought it was cute that Rosie wanted to look at DD's parakeet through the cage bars. Until one night she had him by his foot and tried to pull him through. That poor bird.

BUT if it means more girl rats for you, then at least something good came of it! Let us know what happens!

Rachel I hope your grandmother is ok now. You know- there is something about that generation.. my Dad would not go to the doctor until he was almost dead. My older sister said that everyone she knows who still has parents has the same problem with them. They wait until they can't stand it anymore then it's a huge deal because they wouldn't call anyone for help.. don't feel guilty because it's not your fault. My mother did this same thing in Feb 2006. My parents are cranky about it, they are not going to allow you to help and they are NOT going to the doctor because they don't need to.. that's what they say.
So this time my sister & I read them the riot act for causing everyone's lives to be turned upside down 2 years in a row. If they had only gone when they first got sick they wouldn't have ended up in the hospital in the critical care unit. We think it sunk in.. but we'll have to wait & see. It's frustrating!

Caused by being on a Yahoo tortoise group. lol that's where almost ALL that mail came from. I can't read it all so I just deleted it.

Yes I remember the parakeet incident! (sp)
Because of that I've known for a long time that birds & rats don't mix. When the vet told me about this I thought.. ya know I wouldn't get rid of the rats because they were acting like rats but that's what the woman wanted to do sooo since it may be to my benefit, I won't complain LOL!!
I will let ya know. I need to visit the vet today for dog food.. if she's not swamped & I can see her, maybe I'll find out something about the baby rats today.

What a dumb woman for dumping the rats like that!!! But good that they're all wanted now. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with some little ones around.

I hope your dad is all better now, that's a long time to be in the hospital!

My Dad looked 100 times better yesterday when I saw him.
He's recovering really well now. That's such a load off my mind for now.

I still haven't heard about the baby rats just yet but I think they may only be about 4 weeks old right now. So it may be another week or 2 before I hear something more about how many I might get.
I hate the waiting!
