Another Question

Can you add an older rat, like twice the size? I did find a male baby. But I still need to add another male for companionship. But wondering if I have to get one the same age or can I get one a bit older? Not alot older just maybe a month older. Thanks and tips for doing this if its ok!

male rats generally get along so I don't see a big problem. However, some older males (and I mean a year old or older) may be a bit more aggressive towards a younger male.

Two rats only a month apart in age shouldn't be a problem. Best to introduce them on neutral territory, or clean the cage completely and put in the new rat first, then the other one, unless both are being bought at the same time, then you can just put them together at the same time.

Ok, I may just keep the older one in his own cage next to the younger for a while. Our preachers daughter has a male rex that is 2 years old and he has always been a single guy.
I hope that I can get a big 4 level cage in a couple of monthes so I can have plenty of room. I may still just get another young one to bond with the new one. That way they can still all see each other and smell each other so when they get a bit older maybe they would do better. And I can use this smaller cage for quarintine.
Thanks for you help.
