There will always be a varying range for rat weights/sizes (just based on statistical bell curves). But there's also a type of rat called a "Zucker" rat. These rats were genetically mutated for/by laboratories to be obese and also to have diabetes. I did a little net surfing and found a couple links for you. I found some pictures too (third and fourth link.)

Just my two cents here, but if you're thinking about trying to get these rats for feeders, it's probably best to stick with the regular rats we have access too -- all in the spirit of "why borrow trouble" -- you know? <g>

Hope this helps....

LOL..

i read all about that strain of mice and rats in my college psychology class..

but how good of an idea would it be to feed severly obese animals to your snakes?.. i dont think it'd be a good idea.. being as people tend to overfeed now anyways!

like now.. im tryin to slim down a fat corn i bought yesterday.. shes a beautiful proven snow corn whos alittle thick near the tail.. so looks like shes on a diet and early brumation for her!..

Nutria. In the southern states, they destroy crops, and are 'in season' all year. Killed by the tens of thousands...
