Those big weird fatty looking areas I've been seeing on her for months are bigger & they are tumors. The dog went to the vet last week for yearly checkup & so I took her with us so the vet could evaluate this & she said for sure tumors. This is my spayed girl so I worry that the tumors aren't benign.

The odd thing about the largest one is that I didn't realize until she stood up recently that it looks like a tumor because it doesn't FEEL like one.
She is now 32 months old..oh man I hate the idea of putting an old lady like her through surgery but in 3 weeks or so we're going to do it. The vet said we can wait that long but I really fear losing her because of her old age.
It has to be done because she's beginning to lose weight. whaaaa.
She's the last of my 2005 babies.. I am really going to miss her when she's gone because she's such a sweet girl.
I'll update on her when things change.

I'm sorry to hear that. How old was she when she was spayed, just out of curiousity?

I hope it turns out to be nothig serious and that she breezes through her surgery. I'll be thinking positive thoughts for her!

Natalie was about 8 months old when she was spayed. We've had a bad week with her this week but she's perked up.
I worry that the smoke from the fire affected her more than the others because of her old age. She's had some days where she didn't seem to feel well, she hasn't been eating as she should. She took a dose of dexamethasone to help her breathing in case the smoke did harm her, that helped big time.
I've also been feeding her a lot of extra foods like Gerber's cereal mixed with soy formula, she has actually gained some weight so.
I worry that she won't be well enough to have the surgery but if I can build her up in the next couple of weeks maybe she'll do all right. I hope so!

I remember reading somewhere that the earlier a female is spayed the better, in regard to her chances of not developing mammary tumors. Maybe 8 months was "too late"? In a way, that would be good, since a benign mammary tumor is the least scary thing she could have, right? Anyway, I hope she's strong enough for surgery in a couple of weeks. I'll be thinking about her.
