Kinda OT & kinda not

A fire broke out in my animal room where the rats & turtles live on Aug 5th. Luckily we were home when it happened & we had a fire extinguisher so we didn't lose anyone.
I panicked though for a bit because the rats were very afraid so I had trouble getting all of them out of their cage & into the pet taxi so I could get them out of the house.

We got everyone out of that room & the birds out of the living room because smoke started pouring into there after the fire was out.
Firemen have such great stuff! They brought a big fan that sucked all the smoke out of the house in less than 10 minutes. Nobody died from smoke inhalation, that was my biggest fear.
ALL of the firemen & the cop had to run by & take a peek at the rats, I thought that was so funny that they all had to see the rats.
I have no idea what they thought about them but they all looked at the rats lol.
They did say man you have a lot of animals here... uh yeah we do.
I guess that's ok though because the policeman saw them all too & nobody said anything. Unlike those animal cop shows where this many animals live in filth then the police call in animal control... I guess they didn't see any filth since there was none to see so they didn't make any comments other than you have a lot.

That's why my pet room has been repainted & now has nice laminate flooring installed. The old carpet was horrible anyway but then a big spot was melted so it had to go.
Blessing in disguise is how I look at what happened.
The walls were had a dark wood print on 2 of them, a beige print on the other 2 so I painted them mauve on the light side, berry wine on the other side.. OMG why did I DO THAT? LOL
I hope that once everything is back together I won't look at those walls forever & say why the heck did I DO THAT?

You were so lucky to be home when the fire started! I'm glad all of the animals are O.K.
