redfoot pyramiding

ducktape Oct 12, 2003 12:06 AM

i have a year old redfoot that i have had since she (i don't really know its a girls but for the sake of this post) was 2 weeks old

she is feed daily on a diet of leafy greens ( kale, collard greens dandelion greens, chard ), squash, carrots, peas, green beans, some fruit...... well you get the picture

she is an eating pooping machine!!!! totally healthy

i make a weekly supply of green for all my pets that contains two leafy greens and something else

the only protein i give her is bean sprouts

her shell seems to be pyramiding, every thing i have read points to too much protein as being the cause for this.

any ideas?

or can anyone point me to a web page that has a diet that will prevent this....or should i even be concerned

thanks

If you follow this course to the letter I'd bet big bucks you get the results you are looking for.
Set up a habitat that has a temperature gradient of 85 to 95 . Provide a humid hide box close to the warm end. Feed 50% dark leafy greens and fruit and 50% Mazuri tortoise diet. Sprinkle calcium carbonate on every feeding. Make sure there is always a clean bowl of water available and there you have it. Pretty simple. Try it.
