After vet visit...

Scott_Paynton May 27, 2003 11:18 PM

Well, I whent to the vet and he basically told me to keep doing what I'm doing (the soaking, belly rubs, and mineral oil)... He gave me a sort of laxative (wich is used for cats with/ hairballs and stuff)... and he told me to pick up some pidialite (spelling?). since he is not eating and getting fluids... I also got him sexed and his nails trimmed.. and as I found out, is a male. So I don't have to change his name... He is kinda small (basic head size and stuff), but he is still pretty young. I will keep you updated when and if he gets more out... he is starting to act more normal now, and the vet said he could feel 2 or 3 more bumps (the chunks of substrate)... I will be going back if he doesn't improve over the next few days (like 3-4).. and take a look at our options (i.e. surgery )....

Sounds like you're on the right path, Scot. I'm glad you started treatment in time, or you could've had a real disaster. Thanx for keeping us updated!

I was just wondering if your vet told you how much mineral oil to give? I always say a drop or two to be safe.
Sure hope your boy passes the other pcs. Now you can be an advocate against barks as substrate. I'm sure you didn't think he was eating it.
