You know its funny...to have a wild animal that is native to the state of WI, unless you are a liscensed rehaber is illegal. But you can have an african lion without any type of permit. On top of that, there are no schools around here to "teach" you how to rehibilitate a wild animal, make me wonder where their liscense's came from. I asked they wont share either. But the DNR here can give you a temporary permit to keep a native animal until the time it needs to be released. That is just messed up, I want to open my own rehab center here, since the closest one is 45 miles away, but there is no one around here to teach me how to go about doing that. I dont like the one that I know of in this area, there are things that they do that are totaly wrong as far as getting our wildlife back to where they belong. My gripe I guess, can anyone give me some suggestions?

Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone on this. I'm interested in doing the same, and it's very difficult to get info. I'll let you know if I learn anything about it...please post if you find something. At the moment, I'm trying to get a job as a Vet Tech or Vet Assistant to get experience, preferably one who works with wildlife as well as domestics. I don't have my LVT though, so it's hard to get into. Good luck!

Contact a wildlife rescue org. Wildlife is protected by federal and state laws but after a basic skills course and work under a mentor, you can obtain your license. I plan to start my training this February. Andy
