My uncle rescued a baby florida softshell turtle in my grandparents' pool, and then when he came back a couple of days later, it was back in the pool, so he took it home. He was going to release it, but it is so tiny. I want to keep him until he is large enough to release. I have him in a 10 gal aquarium, and am feeding him pellets, baby shrimp, and krill. He seems to be doing ok. I was wondering how big he needs to be before I can release him safely. I also wanted to make sure that it WOULD be ok to release him, now that he has been cared for, without risking that he will be too tame and not able to forge for his own food and such.
I would really appreciate any info that anyone can give me! I have only had the standard types of pet turtles.
Thanks,
Alicia
