I was able to take some photos of a fairy shrimp in my collection. I hope to get some better photos soon. These are the first photos Ive taken that color showed up very good. This animal is about 7/8" long.

I got results back from the Kansas Biological Survey on my fairy shrimp identifications.
The forked tail shrimp pictured here is called a Spinytail Fairy Shrimp, Streptocephalus seali.
The fat tailed one is called a Beavertail Fairy Shrimp, Thamnocephalus platyurus.
One other species was found as well, Greater Plains Fairy Shimp, Streptocephalus texanus.
