My five gallon tank has an 8W eclipse daylight that I want to rip out and replace with a 13W 10000K compact and a 13W deep blue florescent bulb. I want to retrofit this into my current hood, minus the ballasts, but it will produce to much heat. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for attaching vent fans to the light circuit or know of a site with instructions or information?
I am thinking one fan on each side so air will be drawn across the bulbs and then vented out of the hood. The stock units I have looked at have side-by-side mounted fans, one in and one out, and seem lacking as far as air flow. Also, I would like to hook the fans up with the blue bulb. I figure I will have it turn on first and turn off last when I set up my timers.
Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
