Building my own Aquarium

Bargsbeer Aug 18, 2005 06:07 PM

I'm curious to know if anyone has ever built there own Aquarium?
I'm interested in building my own Tank about 40 Gallons....I considered building it out of Lexan (Polycarbonate)which is basically plexi glass but much stronger But it is very expensive way more money than Glass (SHeets of glass are very cheap) ...My question is what type of glass and how thick should i make it? i.e. Tempered non-tempered ...etc. Thanks Any help would be appreciated.

unless you are doing it for the sheer joy of building, you should buy it. Any all glass aquarium you build will cost more in parts than you can buy one for. Especially tanks under 60 gal. I believe this is due to manufacturers buying in bulk.
