my betta is actin weird

today i changed his water and when i put him back in his tank he started goin crazy and he would lean to one siden and stay at the top of the tank.later he calmed down but he is stil not right he is hangin out in thefake plant.i felt the water and it kinda cold should i buy a heater?is he sick?someone plz help me!!

Hmm. It sounds like a couple things: could be either a swim bladder problem or not enough oxygen in the water (so he'd be breathing from the surface). How much water do you change? What's your ammonia, pH, nitrate, and nitrite levels? Also, a thermometer might be useful because 78 degrees F does feel cold to the touch, but bettas can live in that temp water.

can you fix a swim bladder problem?i change all of the water avery 5 days. i do not kno wat the ammonia,pH,nitrate,and nitite levels are but i will go to wal mart and get somthing to measure it and a thermometer.

Swim bladder problems are an easy fix... but until I know your water parameters, I can't diagnose it properly. Mostly ammonia is important. Also, I would recommend leaving at least 1/4 of the water in the tank to keep some old water and bacteria. Bettas are hardy fish, but they aren't invincible.

well he is actin normal again. im moving him to a 5 gallon tank with two mollies and this tank has a filter on friday
