Betta Habitat

fullottermoon Sep 02, 2007 01:06 PM

I have previously read on this forum that keeping of bettas in a vase w/ a peace lily in the neck is very bad practice. However, on several occaissions I have seen tis done & I always ask how it's working out. It's been good for everyone & the bettas were 1-2 yrs. old.
Advise please.

While it may look pretty, it is not fair to the betta to give it so little space. All the bettas I've seen in little containers do not look happy. Not only that, but it is also very bad as far as water conditions go. A little container will have to be changed everyday, which will stress your betta out and lead to illnesses of some sort. Not to mention the helpful bacteria will not have a chance to colonize.
