new comet goldfish!

i just got my first comet goldfish and my first freshwater fish! he was going to be monitor lizard food and i saved him! right now he is in a goldfish bowl but he will be in a 10gal tank tommoro. his name is oscar! i was told to put a little bit of salt in the water, should i do this? anyway if you have any tips on care hor him/her please tell me. thank you

I'm sure your goldfish is ecstatic that you save him/her. Below is a link that should answer all your questions about what you need,etc., but if you find you still have questions you can always ask.
The only thing I want to suggest is to keep up with the water changes. Goldfish are poop machines.
As for the salt, I've heard things about not to do it, and people have told me that it helps.... so I'm not sure.... personally, I don't use it, but I did when my golden barb had it's fins nipped. I guess it's up to you, but make sure it is FW salt and not SW salt. There is a difference I guess.

thank you, but i do have one ? on the water i use. do i have to use springwater or can i just use normal tap water?

You will have to check to see what your town uses to "purify" the tap water. You will also have to use a water treatment (i.e.: Easy Balance or some other form of chlorine/chloromine remover). Personally, I use spring water for all my aquatic loves. I find that it is better (that's not a fact, just my opinion )
