aquarium stand

Hi,
I am a sort of newbie, setting up my first 20 gallon (tall) aquarium. Bought a wrought iron stand (Topfin); the problem is the surface of the stand is not completely level. Its just slightly bowed to where the middle is slightly higher than the ends, so when I set the tank on it there is a very small gap between the end braces of the stand and the bottom of the tank. I put cardboard underneath the tank, which helped, but there is still a very small gap, maybe the width of two playing cards. Its too small to fill it in with something.
Should I be worried about the tank breaking if I use the stand? I rent and I have visions of exploding fish tanks and water everywhere in my living room...lol. Does that small of a gap even matter in a 20 gallon? I really don't want to have to buy another, and more expensive stand, especially since I can't return this one (thats another story)Need some good advice, don't know what to do

Thanks so much

That really does suck that you can't return it. That's a very good question. If it were me, I'd probably use it anyways, but I'd be worried just like you are that it might break - I rent too. That would be horrible. That's totally you're call, but lets get some more opinions for you.
