If her gravid spot is red and square...

merlin7676 Feb 04, 2008 11:34 AM

how long will it be before I can expect babies? I have read on here that it's not advisable to keep them in a breeder box for more than a day so I don't want to do it too early.

The darker the gravid spot gets the closer she is to giving birth. I would say it can't hurt if you feel it's pretty close to time, you can try her in the box for 12 hours and if she doesn't give birth let her in the tank until her gravid spot gets darker. Hope this helps. I know it's not exact, but every fish differs in timing.
