If livebears breed too much

merlin7676 Feb 16, 2008 12:07 PM

So just a general question about livebearers and their breeding. I have guppies and platys and tetras. I plan on keeping a few fry (have 2 guppy fry right now) but I understand livebearers breed like crazy. Even if I let nature take it's course later on and let the other fish eat they fry when they are born, I imagine I'll still have some each time that are saved by hiding in the plants and whatnot. So what do you all do when you start getting too many fish? I already have 2 setups so I have no more room to get another tank.

You can always try selling some to your local fish store, or just giving them some. You could also try selling them locally or on aquabid or something. Other than that, there isn't really a whole lot you can do with them, but yes they will overpopulate their tanks.
