bichir regrets

I messed up. Big time. That's all I can say.

I went to petsmart and saw these cute little fish (senegal bichirs) and I had a 46 gallon bowfront tank at home that was empty so I thought "why not?" and got 2. I thought that I had done rather well. Hahahahaha jokes on me. Within 4 weeks these guys GREW. Then I decided to grow a brain and research and found out they get to 12 inches long! Holy Mother of Mary! Now I'm panicking because I dont want them in a tank thats too small, and I cant afford to buy a bigger tank and I want to put more fish in there but as it stands, I'm not sure any more. Please help me. I feel like such an IDIOT!

Hi there. I'm the moderator for the fish forums here, and while I've really got no clue about bichirs, I did manage to find you a website that may be of some help. Cheer up! It'll be ok. I've promoted your post as well so the birchir knowing folks can tell you what they know. Let me know if the website is of any assistance.
It looks like some other people have theirs in 46-120 gallon tanks.
