RE: BUSH Aministration changes allowing hunting, trade of endangered animals

WASHINGTON - The Bush Administration is proposing far-reaching changes to conservation policies that would allow hunters, circuses and the Pet industry to kill, capture and import animals on the brink of extinction in other countries.

I agree with Adam Roberts (Senior research associate at the Non-Profit Animal Welfare Institute) in that this is a very dangerous precedent. Kenneth Stansell (Assistant director for international affairs at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service) Favors this action.

If the CCA is truely dead, We need to organize in another way to ensure any future exportation of Corucia is directed only into the proper recognized individuals or groups dedicated to this species survival.

Sincerely,
Brian

....placed here for convenience. Unfortunately, Surprisingly for an outfit such as CNN, it is a watered-down version of some other reports. The P.B. Post article mentioned the ramifications benefiting the pet industry with this proposal that the CNN article is lacking.

Here's the text of the draft policy:

Note that Fish and Wildlife is accepting public comments on the proposed rule until October 17. They do read and consider public comments. I urge anyone with opinions on this proposed rule to write in.
