I have a 55 gal saltwater tank that has had no problems for 6 months. One of my fish got stressed (pop eye) and I had to treat it with antibiotics. The fish recovered but shortly after the tank turned green. This baffled the local fish person. His opinion was that it was an algea outbreak most common to freshwater tanks. We have tried red velvet killer, as well as treating the tank with saltwater TLC and SAT and prime. This seemed to help and the tank lightened. We have been treating the tank since July. We reduced the lights being on to 5 hours or less a day. In September we started covering the tank. Almost all the time. The green still has not cleared completely if we leave the blanket off the take for more than a day it starts to green up again. I run two backpack filters as well as two power heads I only have a lion and a mono in the tank currently they are feed once at night and the lights are only on and the tank uncovered for 1 hour a night. all levels are normal salt 1.021 amonia 0 nitrate nitrite 0. i do not know what else to try but am rapidly going broke this way and am tired of having a blanket in my living room instead of a tank
