Yellow watchman goby turned white

lovebox505 Feb 05, 2006 03:01 PM

I have a 12 gal nanocube with a live rock and sand that was set up a few months ago. Before I get hammered for having a small salt water set up, I know the difficulties already and I monitor the water daily. Water has acclimated fine, all parameters were normal, I got some snails/crabs and a yellow sea cucumber a few weeks ago. All have been doing fine. Along with the polyps that are growing on the rock. I did a 4 gal water change with DI water, everything was still fine so I got a clown fish and yellow watchman goby. I have been watching them closely and after one day the goby has turned white. I haven't found anything on them changing colors due to substrates so I am assuming stress...he hasn't shown any other signs of stress but it has only been one day. Any ideas on how to keep him going? I am finding nothing wrong with water (nitrate, nitrites, ammonium, hardness, pH)

I'm a freshwater person but I know in th ewild clownfish are highly territorial. Watch to see if he is harrassing your goby. Also I know that many saltwater fish are wild caught. It is possible that you bought a sick fish. Don't know hope this helps.
