Traveling with my SW guys

Hello,

I am moving and will be driving about 20 hours. I have a 6 gal. hex with one damsel, one anenime and one hermie. How should I transport them. How long can they survice without filtration? I was thinking I would take 1/2 the water from their tank and put the tank in its original box and set it on the floor of the car.
