Harvesting for a tank...opinions?

allegraf Aug 05, 2006 04:12 PM

Hello Everyone,

I have a 90g w/ a wet/dry filter. It is currently empty, we previously had tanganikan chiclids in there. We are thinking of going to a salt setup. I have a friend who has been giving me advise since he already has a salt setup. There is one thing that I am not so comfortable with, he like to collect from the beaches, reefs and grassbeds that we have here locally. Is this legal? I would think that it is also a bad practice for the tank as well. He has got to be introducing all kinds of bad stuff to his tank. He also collects seawater from the ocean, opinions? Thanks.

Allegra

PS
I am still in the research phase, but we are leaning towards a reef tank. I'm sure I will have a ton of questions later on.

You would have to check the legality for your individual state. You can often find that information under the wildlife department.
