Last week I noticed some green grass algae growing in my small tank. I called my local SW store and they told me it was normal and not to worry about it, that if it got bad i could get a turbo snail to clean it. Well it hasn't gotten bad, but when I went to do a water change this morning I noticed the water smelled like it was burning. I took out my fake corals to clean them as I always do and the smell was definatly coming from them, they also had the worst algae covering. I cleaned all the algae off the fake corals and the sides of the tank, but I left it on the live rock. The water smells much better now. When I checked my chem levels before the change they were at Ammonia .15, Nitrate/Nitrite 0, pH 8.2, Alkalinity off the scale high. What I am wondering is if I should worry about this algae, could it be caused by my alkalinity, and how do I fix this?
