What all do I need?

i have recently become amazed with salt water fish and would like to setup a tank. I have a 55 gallon glass tank to put them in.
What all do I need to start? what water mixture/levels do i need to know about? Are coral fish good starters or are they all the same level of experience as long as you have the water right?
