first tank

i am starting my first tank. i need help with the lighting. it is a 40B gallon tank. i think i want to go with metal halide lighting. i would just like some tips, this being my first one. i am also building the stand for this one and need some tips. i plan to start out with some simple corals first and then move to sps's.
