My little crab "Sammy" has been running around without a shell for about 4 days now. We separated him from our other crabs. We put an extra bowl of water in the tank with him along with his sponge. We have tried bathing him and placing him back in his shell (he pinches hard), but he wouldn't go and he wouldn't cooperate and unfurl his tail. He seems very active, still climbing all around. He is eating and drinking and does not seem afraid. No sign of mites. Lots of new shells to choose from, if he wants. The tank is warm and moist. How long can he live outside of a shell? I don't want to cram him in and hurt him, and our previous trials seemed to stress us more than him. If the new shells we provided for him are not appropriate, will he choose none over his old one even? We have only had our guys for less than a year. I'm sure no one wants their pet to die and worries about their well-being. I would just appreciate more suggestions. Please.
